The quiet work your body is doing

Your body is in the middle of something extraordinary.

As your baby grows, your pelvis is widening, your centre of gravity is shifting, and your nervous system is running a months-long, beautifully coordinated conversation between your spine, your hormones and your baby. Most of it happens without you ever noticing it.

But when that conversation gets interrupted — by stress, by posture, by the sheer physical load of pregnancy — your body starts to feel it. Tightness that won't let go. A pelvis that doesn't feel balanced. Sleep that never quite lands. A baby that feels like it's lying on one side.

This is where gentle, neurologically-focused chiropractic care can make a real difference — not by "fixing" anything, but by helping your body do what it already knows how to do.

How Dr Susan works

IMG-20250928-WA0023.jpg

Dr Susan Goslett is a brain-based chiropractor who has walked with moms through pregnancy since 2009, when she first started working at the Genesis Clinic in Johannesburg. In 2010 she completed a post-graduate pregnancy course, and she later incorporated the Torque Release Technique into her practice — a gentle, low-force approach that uses a small handheld instrument to deliver precise adjustments to the spine and nervous system.

There is no twisting. No cracking. No forceful movements. Most moms describe it as one of the calmest things they do all week.

What pregnancy care looks like here

First Visit

Your first visit is a relaxed, unhurried conversation. Dr Susan takes a full history, listens to your story, and runs a gentle neurological assessment to see how your nervous system is currently responding to the demands of pregnancy. Together you'll design a care plan that fits your trimester, your body and your birth goals.

Follow-up Visits

Follow-up visits are short, gentle and focused. Many moms come weekly in the final trimester, and most tell us they sleep better on the nights they've been in.

Next Steps

After baby arrives, you're welcome to bring your little one in for their own gentle check-in — newborn care is a natural extension of the work we do together during pregnancy. And your post-partum care is very close to my heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes. The Torque Release Technique is one of the gentlest approaches in the profession and is specifically well-suited to pregnancy. Dr Susan has been caring for pregnant moms since 2009.

When in pregnancy should I start?

Any time. Many moms come in as early as the first trimester for nervous-system support and nausea; others come in the third trimester to prepare their body and pelvis for birth. Earlier is usually better, but it's never too late.

Will you "crack" my back?

No. The Torque Release Technique uses a small handheld instrument called the Integrator. It delivers a precise, gentle impulse — no twisting, no popping, no force. Most moms find it deeply relaxing.

How often will I need to come?

It depends on where you are in your pregnancy and what your body is asking for. Dr Susan will design a care plan with you at your first visit. There is never any pressure to commit to more than you're comfortable with.
