Meet Dr Susan Goslett
When people ask me why I became a chiropractor, I usually smile and tell them it happened completely by accident.
As a teenager, I was convinced I would become a professional dancer. Ballet, contemporary and jazz dancing were a huge part of my life. Then, during an intermediate ballet examination at the age of 16, an examiner bluntly informed me that I would never make it as a professional dancer.
At the time, it felt devastating.
What followed was a season of exploring what might come next. After extensive psychometric testing, a psychologist told me something both helpful and frustrating: I seemed to have aptitude in many different areas.
His advice?
"You can do almost anything. What do you want to do?"
I found myself drawn repeatedly to healthcare. I explored medicine, physiotherapy, radiology, pharmacy and many other health professions. Unfortunately, my school marks weren't strong enough to gain entry into most of those programmes.
Then the psychologist mentioned a new course being offered at the time: Chiropractic.
The rest, as they say, is history.
More Than Twenty Years Later
After more than two decades in practice, what I enjoy most isn't just chiropractic care itself.
It's people.
Every person who walks through the door has a story.
How did they arrive at this point in their life? What challenges are they facing? What stresses are they carrying? What are they hoping for?
I never take for granted the trust patients place in me when they share those stories.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is helping people understand their bodies, their health and the role they can play in improving their wellbeing. I love sharing what I have learned over the years, whether that's one-on-one in the practice, speaking at antenatal classes, presenting to community groups, delivering workplace wellness talks, or presenting to larger organisations.
Why Pregnancy, Babies and Families?
Pregnant mothers hold a special place in my heart.
Pregnancy is such a unique season of life. When you're living through it, nine months can feel like forever. Yet when you look back, it's only a brief chapter.
Many women assume that discomfort during pregnancy is something they simply have to endure because "it's normal." I often remind them that while certain symptoms may be common, common does not necessarily mean normal.
There is so much we can do to support comfort, movement, nervous system function and overall wellbeing during pregnancy.
Working with babies and children was a natural extension of that passion.
As those pregnant mothers returned with their newborns, I found myself caring for entire families. I especially enjoy working with slightly older children because they remind me not to take life too seriously. Children have a wonderful ability to laugh, play and see the world differently.
Sometimes they even give me permission to be a little silly too.
Over the years, my practice has also grown to include adults, men and seniors. Whether I'm helping a busy parent, an office worker, an active retiree or a growing child, my focus remains the same: helping people function at their best through a healthier, more adaptable nervous system.
Education Is Part of My Care
One of my greatest passions is helping people understand their health.
Whether I'm speaking to an expectant couple at an antenatal class, presenting to a workplace wellness group, or sitting with a patient in my practice, I believe that knowledge empowers better decisions.
My goal is not simply to provide care, but to help people better understand their bodies, their nervous systems and the factors that influence their health and wellbeing.
When people understand why they are experiencing a problem and what they can do about it, they are better equipped to take ownership of their health journey.
Life Outside the Practice
I am engaged to a wonderful man, Wim Olivier. We met during COVID through online dating—proof that unexpected things can happen in wonderful ways.
I am also incredibly proud of my son, Rhyse. He has trained in Kung Fu since childhood and has represented South Africa at the World Championships in China. Watching him compete and achieve success through years of dedication has been one of the great joys of my life.
Our home is shared with three very enthusiastic dogs: Tachi, our Labradoodle; Tjokkie, our Dachshund; and Kunoichi, our Australian Cattle Dog puppy, whose name reflects Wim's love of Ninjitsu.
When I'm not in practice, you might find me crocheting a blanket, experimenting with calligraphy, cooking with Wim, training in Shaolin Kung Fu, or attempting to spend more time at the climbing gym than I currently manage.
Some weekends are filled with family, friends and long walks. Others are simply spent around a braai or curled up on the couch watching a good movie.

What You Can Expect When You Visit
My hope is that every person who walks into the practice feels safe.
I want you to feel welcomed, heard and cared for.
While I may not always have all the answers, I will do my best to help you understand what is happening, explore your options and identify the next best steps forward.
Healthcare should never feel intimidating.
It should feel like a partnership.
My Philosophy on Health
One of the most important things I have learned over the years is that true health cannot be handed to you by a practitioner.
Health is a team effort.
I can help identify stressors. I can make recommendations. I can provide chiropractic care and support healthy nervous system function.
But lasting change happens when you become an active participant in your own wellbeing.
Your mindset, your choices and your willingness to engage in the process all influence the outcome.
My role is not to "fix" you.
My role is to walk alongside you, provide guidance and support, and help you build the foundations for better health and a better quality of life.
I would be honoured to be part of that journey.
